german: Der Kontrabassist und Komponist Robert Lucaciu defragmentiert in seinem Projekt „Fallen Crooner“ das eigene, (cis-)männliche Selbstverständnis und fordert die Musiker*innen Laura Totenhagen, Pascal Klewer, Shannon Barnett, Sofía Salvo und Moritz Baumgärtner zu einem lustvollen Diskurs über Geschlechterrollen auf. In einer Montage aus Eigenkompositionen Lucacius, bekannten Songs und Textsequenzen verschiedener Autor*innen. Jede*r Musiker*in darf hier die eigene Vielfalt zelebrieren und alle Nuancen, die das eigene Instrument bietet, auskosten.

english: Double bassist and composer Robert Lucaciu’s “Fallen Crooner” seeks to untangle his own (cis) male self-image. In a collaboration with musicians Laura Totenhagen, Pascal Klewer, Shannon Barnett, Sofía Salvo and Moritz Baumgärtner, the work opens up a pleasurable discourse about gender roles. Woven within a montage of Lucaciu’s own compositions and free improvisation, are recognizable songs and text sequences by various authors. Within “Fallen Crooner”, every musician is free to celebrate and enjoy the nuances offered by their own instrument.

MALSTROM

german: Das Trio aus Deutschland und der Schweiz ist ein musikalisches Kraftwerk. Es nutzt Klänge und Einflüsse aus Progressive Rock, Nu Metal und elektronischer Musik und lässt improvisatorischen Philosophie und komplexer Kompositionen in einem völlig neuen Gewand erscheinen. Der Sound der Band entsteht durch eine Mischung aus Jazz, freier Improvisation und Rockelementen der 90er Jahre. Durch das Fehlen eines Bassinstrumentes bleibt den Bandmitgliedern keine Ruhe. Die volle, manchmal brachiale Klangfassade wird durch die 8 saitige E-Gitarre, gnadenlosen Grooves und Ostinatos sowie Saxophon produziert.

english: Hailing from Germany and Switzerland, powerhouse trio Malstrom harnesses influences from progressive rock, nu metal, and electronic music to produce their full and sometimes brutal sound façade. Malstrom’s output, inspired by a mixture of ’90s jazz, free improvisation, and rock, is produced with an 8-string electric guitar, saxophone, and merciless grooves and ostinatos. Without a bass, Malstrom works overtime to create their hard-hitting sound. Both an improvisational philosophy and complex compositions underscore the trio’s distinct discography.
