Das europäische Quartett vereint den Berliner Saxofonisten Philipp Gropper, die in Amsterdam lebende koreanische Schlagzeugerin Sun-Mi Hong – einen der spannendsten Drums-Stars Europas – sowie den Leipziger Bassisten Robert Lucaciu. Jarrets Kompositionen verbinden Lyrik, Abstraktion und filmische Klangräume mit spontaner Interaktion. Energie und Einflüsse von Alternative Rock – von Deerhoof bis Sonic Youth – treffen auf freie Improvisation und den Geist der „Great Black American Music“. Namensgeber ist die Linde (Tilia), seit jeher Symbol für Freiheit, Gerechtigkeit und lebendige Gemeinschaft.
english: Guitarist and composer Paul Jarret consistently forges his own artistic path with TILIA. The European quartet brings together Berlin-based saxophonist Philipp Gropper, Amsterdam-based Korean drummer Sun-Mi Hong—one of Europe’s most exciting drumming stars—and Leipzig-based bassist Robert Lucaciu. Jarret’s compositions blend lyricism, abstraction, and cinematic soundscapes with spontaneous interaction. The energy and influences of alternative rock—from Deerhoof to Sonic Youth—meet free improvisation and the spirit of “Great Black American Music.” The group takes its name from the linden tree (Tilia), which has long been a symbol of freedom, justice, and vibrant community.
